First anniversary - home alone. Perhaps I should stop serving mung bean sprouts at every opportunity???

Returning to Langkawi ,with only a few days left before my freinds return to Oz, I pressgang them ( well press ganged to the extent , that it was at least discussed that it would be handy to do), into a trip by water around to Telega Harbour so that I could  top up  fuel tanks. Fuel pump at Royal Langkawi was not functioning and I didn't want to get any of the first fuel delivered to boats when it started up again- just in case.
It's 15 miles away, so we left in the morning and predictably , about 3 miles from destination got walloped by 36 kts as a front moved through. Sails stowed before it arrived and at least the rain is warm in this part of the world!

Fueled up and then anchored just outside Telega for the night, behind two man made islands, which offer at least some protection from any swell. At this anchorage you are directly under Mt Machinchang. Point of interest, is the cable car. At 708 m the cable car is apparently the steepest in the world. Its been designed and installed  by people who know about these things, from the European snow field cable cars- Phew!
From the anchorage outside Telega looking towards the chairlift
At night it's lit up and looks pretty speccy from the anchorage. Another storm moved through during the night and as the cloud descended over the  mountain ,to me, the eerie glow was very reminiscent of the scene from Close Encounters of the Third Kind, (for those of us who were born before 1977).

Returned to Royal Langkawi.

Peter showed me how to change the saltwater (SW) impeller in the port engine. Upon opening it up, it was obvious, that although it was still well  before the required hours for a service , a vane on the impeller had already been shed. How far through the cooling system  had it  gone nobody knows. We looked for it through the system  as far as it was easy to do so without entirely disassembling the whole sw cooling system .Presumably it's been munched into a gazillion teeny weeny bits, as engine still functioning and absolutely no sign of it.

Peter and Ros  flew out on the 1st June ,K'Gari's first anniversary.

In the first year, I have learnt heaps- still heaps to learn.

K'Gari and I have travelled 2793nm from Vietnam, across the South China Sea, through Borneo, the Singapore Straits, Singapore, the Straits of Malacca and west coast of Malaysia.

Caught precisely one, obviously suicidal mackeral, lost one lure.

Yes, its sailing boat, but in that time have consumed 1192 lts of fuel - due to no wind or adverse winds, or making water in Nha Trang, whilst we awaited those few last minute (days) of remedial work. Run the engines for a total of 460.8 hrs, so that is 2.58lt an hour,  pretty economical.

Nine  friends have  joined me at different times over the adventure. Thanks for coming, to one and all-it's been fun.

Met some really great friendly  people on my travels and seen some great sights.

What will the next year bring? More adventures!
